Really wanted to love it

I'm a big fan of Harper Bliss so I was excited about this book and wanted to love it. I have Kindle Unlimited but I bought the book anyway just to support the author. Unfortunately, I couldn't love it. Harper's writing quality is good, but I felt there could have been so much more to this story. My main problems are the Charlie character's neuroticism-- I'm used to this from Harper but it was not balanced enough here with qualities to make someone like Ava fall in love with her anyway. And then there was the characters being crazy for one another after very few interactions, most of which involved Charlie's neuroticism spoiling things. And then there was Ava. I realized at the end of the book that I didn't know much more about Ava than I was told in the book blurb (other than that she is a tremendously understanding and patient person). Where did she come from (born in the US or did she emigrate from Latin America), what was her past, what makes her tick, does she have a single flaw, was she partially in love with Charlie already just from reading her books? Will still support Harper on the next one... hoping what gets billed as a full novel will not feel more like a short story next time!

Great book...must read!

Charlie has hit it big! Hollywood has come calling and it couldn’t have come at a better time for her, personally and professionally. Charlie is 10 months into trying to get over her ex-partner of 7 years, Jo, who left her for a man. Charlie a Gold Star Lesbian is still bitter and almost a year later trying to wrap her mind around how something like this could happen. As a result of her heart break, Charlie has vowed to never get involved with any woman who is not 100% gay....that is until she meets her crush...the lovely Ava.

Charlie realizes very quickly if she is ever going to get over Jo and have any type of meaningful relationship in her life...she is going to have to work through her issues in her own head and realize that nothing is certain in life and if you want to be happy, you have to grab that happiness when it presents itself to you.

Charlie has met her match with Ava. Ava might not meet the "percentage" rule in Charlie’s mind, but how do you walk away from someone that is so right for you in every way.

You will experience every emotion possible in this book. Harper Bliss does an incredible job of describing the insecurities I’m sure any one of us would feel, if our partner left us for a man. You feel the pain and struggle Charlie goes through constantly fighting her brain and her heart as to what’s right for her.

I think this book is a great example where there is pain, there is also reward. I highly recommend this book!

Lets Get Cooking

Ms. Bliss has challenged herself to writing a book a month for a year. This is an amazing goal to set but she is off to an excellent start with Release the Stars.

Charlie is a successful writer whose books are being made into a TV series. Feeling betrayed, Charlie is trying to get over her ex who left her for and married a man. She is obsessed with finding a girlfriend who is 100 % lesbian. One day her BFF Nick takes her to a dinner party hosted by Charlie's celebrity crush and a woman she has lusted over for years, TV chef, Ava.

The women hit it off and a friendship is quickly formed and before long it looks like something much more personal could and would happen if only Charlie will just let go of her fear and her ideal 100 % lesbian woman.

I really loved the story line in this book. Who doesn't dream of a chance with her celebrity crush and having that crush want you in the same way?

The main characters in this tale are great and the secondary characters are wonderful adding to the story. Charlie is so easy to love while being totally frustrating at the same time. She is scared, angry, a bit lost but mostly hurt and confused. She isn't able to see her role in the breakup, instead focusing the pain and anger toward her ex and the man she married. I think we all have blinders like that on at some point in our lives. Its easier to deny and blame than take a good look at the whole picture. It is only after Ava and Nick call her on it (more than once) that she actually takes a real look at the situation. After talking to her ex she is finally able to move on letting herself be free from all the weight she had been carrying.

She was a damsel in distress and Ava her knight with shining cookware. Ava is sweet, charming and genuine. She is also patient, gentle and determined to win her Lady's heart no matter the cost to her own heart. I just adored her to pieces!

It was a pleasure to see Charlie grow the heck up and change her way of seeing things. I enjoyed how their relationships friendly and romantically, developed and strengthened. I loved this precious romance and eagerly await Ms. Bliss' next book in the series.

I was so happy to have found this book. Dean Wall's devotions have over the years weaned me from devotions to studying the Bible itself for several hours a day. I trust that any readers who diligently ponder these devotions will one day find in themselves a true hunger for God's Word. About the Author

Helen Adams Keller (1880-1968) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf and blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. The story of how Keller's teacher, Annie Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a nearly complete lack of language, allowing the girl to blossom as she learned to communicate, has become known worldwide through the dramatic depictions of the play and film The Miracle Worker.

Beautiful book. Helen Keller was truly a very special person.

Beautiful book. Re-edited from her own original work, "My Religion", and made more coherent.

Helen goes into some detail about what makes Swedenborg's Christian doctrine such a beautiful Christian religion for her, and how it gave her the inspiration to live a life in dignity and inspiration to others (!) and to overcome or deal with her handicaps for almost 80 years.

It has a few funny moments, such as her description of nature walks with an elderly friend. With her uncertain speech and his elderly hearing, he would have to ask her to repeat herself, but to do this he'd spell a question in her hand. With his advancing arthritis, his shaking hands letters could be difficult for her to decipher.

She is an amazing writer, inspite of total lack of sound or sight to experience those senses. Despite total blindness and deafness, she writes with vibrant color and imagery.

Chew sees the periphery as not simply an area of victims of European trade, as some histories do, but as having considerable freedom of action, sometimes against the interests of the arms sellers, including the Ethiopians and the Afghans.

Most interesting to me is the trade to the Sulu area, and Burma. The scale of the trade was large, and Chew observes than the Europeans did not achieve definite arms superiority until the later 1800s.

Always remember that you own your mind, it does NOT own you.

What I really hate about procrastination is that we all know, that at some point, whether we like it or not, that we're going to have to get stuck into whatever we've been procrastinating. Instead of doing what needs to be done we fill our time with pointless minutaie, and yes that might make us look busy, but it doesn't move us forward, it's almost as if you're stuck in time until you can deal with your tasks. Now I admit that procrastination might not be such an issue if you're avoiding something at home, but it's a different story if you procrastinate at work.

Procrastination isn't a physical thing, it's in your mind, so in order to defeat it we need to address issues such as your self-esteem, willpower, motivation and assertiveness.

If you Can't Beat Procrastination After This You Never Will!

A detailed guide on how to overcome procrastination and achieve more every day. The author explains why we procrastinate and what to do about it.

This is not some superficial information on setting up a to do list. The author goes into detail about the common causes of procrastination such as self esteem issues, negative thinking and stress and how they affect our ability to get things done. Recommended.

A very comprehensive introduction to the Assembly language

I was a little skeptical when I have noticed that this book was about the assembly language on a Windows machine through MASM but I’ve kept reading and I’m simply enthusiast about this book. It’s not just because the concepts are both well explained, but also because they all come with many good examples, whose key lines are illustrated step by step. I have never felt neither lost nor bored.

As I just said, this book refers to the 32 bit Intel on Microsoft Windows, using MASM. MASM provides developers with ad hoc directives that make their life easier. But they do instead get in the way if you need to learn the language, since they do part of the work for you, keeping instructions hidden. The author does a great job here: he does show the code both with and without MASM directives, which makes the book a perfect title for anyone interested in learning assembly, not just MASM users.

He does actually more: he pairs C code (on the left) to Assembly code (on the right), which adds incredible value.

The book is divided into ten chapters plus five appendixes. It covers all the basic key concepts to get started writing and understanding assembly code. The flow moves smoothly, without abrupt changes. The reader never gets lots.

Each chapter has many examples plus a final more complex complete program that summarizes the concepts just presented. A summary is also present, so that the reader can quickly recap what he just read. While not art masterpieces, there are many schemas that help following the instructions flow. And if you are up for the challenge, you find plenty of exercises to test your knowledge.

I have absolutely enjoyed reading every single line of this book. I definitely suggest it to anyone interested to learn Assembly. C developers would also benefit from it, since they would see their code from a different, lower level perspective.

Ordered this book as a supplementary tool for the course I'm taking (Computer Architecture, programming in MIPS). It's better than lecture + my other textbook combined. Easy to read, provides a huge amount of explanation and information in manageable chunks w/o being boring. Would recommend to everyone learning Assembly (or MIPS specifically, though it's not exactly the same)

Excellent Source

Coming from the background of a dancer and Bachelor of Science in kinesiology, I found that this book was an excellent source to further combine and enhance my knowledge in both of these fields. Presently, I am in a graduate dance program and assisting with Bartenieff Fundamentals. This book works perfectly for any Bartenieff Fundamentals, Experiential Anatomy, Technique, and/or Pedagogy course. It is easy to read, and I can quickly find simple and beneficial exercises to use in the classroom and to prepare my body for dance and daily life.

THIS IS A WONDERFULL BOOK.

I study integration in Tai Chi and found this book full of good information to supplement my knowledge, I also do body work and this will be helpfull in that also. I would like to see the author do a workbook without the ancedotes and have larger pages and with pictures as an aid. I will possibly do a later review as I am still mastering the material, Northern Wu Tai Chi could add some integration ideas which I may detail later as I am not prepared at the moment. I bought this book taking a chance and was happily rewarded. I am adding some information to this review, for those interested in body integration from an eastern point of view, the core of Tai Chi I recommend "Warriors of Stillness" by Jan Depiersloot.

add another dimension to any movement

This book makes any movement--whether it be yoga, Pilates or just walking down the street--better understood and the analogies to how one carries one's self in the world and relates is interesting. It is also very well written and easy to follow. I like it because I came to Pilates etc from being more of an athlete... this can make anyone feel like a dancer and can lend to the practice of any movement, even by athletes!! (You will also see that what some of your teachers in whatever mind-body discipline you are studying might not be attributing to Bartinieff/Laban are well just that!)
